The village of Rushville is situated on the borders of Yates and Ontario counties. The Town of Potter, in which most of Rushville sits, decided in the early 1980s that a semi-private golf course would be beneficial from an economic standpoint as well as creating a quality course for local residents. The funding was originally met with some opposition, and the site of the new course was moved three times in the pre-funding stages.

The design and location of the course were finally approved, and the city had a special bond election to secure the funds for land clearing and construction. A number of private citizens were responsible for the final funding of the golf club, and they became charter members when the course was completed in 1985.

The semi-private nature of the club allows the 19th Hole Grille to serve alcoholic beverages to the members and non-members alike. A portion of the profits from the sale of alcohol is donated to various charities.

Although the course is fairly liberal as far as gear, they do require the proper cleats to be worn, and that members and non members follow the policy about food and beverage policy out on the greens. The golfers are allowed to take out drinks, and small snacks, but are not allowed to take out larger coolers, or make a meal day out on the course. The general rules are similar to most golf courses in the area, and the course feel is fairly laid back, as long as all golfers and guests, follow the rules of the golf course.

The best time to visit the course is mid May, up until early Fall, when the weather is still nice enough outdoors, and not too cold early in the fall. Although the course is only open a few months during the year, due to the snow in the winter, making sure that you choose the perfect forecast, and the perfect wind conditions on your golf day, will make for the best experience.
